I read a blog post by my favourite online human/blogger/instagrammer Kasia from @kasiaastanicich about what she’s currently “Reading, Watching and Listening To” so I thought I would be a total copy cat and make one of my own as I love finding these blog posts from people who I enjoy following cos I’m always on the lookout for new books, music, podcasts and other content to binge on!
Lets start off with…
Now I’m not usually a reality TV kinda gal, I just don’t watch enough TV to keep up with each episode and then when I come back I have no idea what’s going on.. but RuPauls Drag Race has completely changed that for me.
RuPauls Drag Race is a reality TV competition for Drag Queens, and yes it is just as fabulous as one might expect. They do challenges every week for prizes and eventually to become Americas Next Drag Superstar. There’s fashuunn, there’s comedy, there’s acting, sass and drama and everything in between. This show will have you laughing, crying, screaming at the television and somehow putting sentences like “OH THE SHADE OF IT ALL” and “YAAAAAAASSSS QWEEEEEN” into everyday sentences.
Would definitely recommend watching a couple of episodes of it before you come back here and ask me why I recommended you this crap.. I “hate-watched” it for at least 2-3 episodes and now I am well and truly addicted.
Oh.. and did I mention lip-synchs??? That’s right, you read that correctly, the bottom two of each week “Lip Synch For Their Lives” to avoid elimination, and you guessed it.. it’s either the best or the worst thing you’ve ever watched and you know ya girl is gonna judge each and every one of them as if her life depended on it while eating curry on the couch in her pajamas!
I love reading, picking up new books, and diving right into their worlds but that doesn’t mean I always pick good ones. In fact, I’ve read more disappointing books recently than ones I’ve devoured so I thought I would pick a few that I have downloaded onto my kindle and are patiently waiting for me to start them.
Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton:
“When it comes to the trials and triumphs of becoming a grown up, journalist Dolly Alderton has seen and tried it all. She vividly recounts falling in love, wrestling with self-sabotage, finding a job, throwing a socially disastrous Rod-Stewart themed house party, getting drunk, getting dumped, realising that Ivan from the corner shop is the only man you’ve ever been able to rely on, and finding that your mates are always there at the end of every messy night out. It’s a book about bad dates, good friends and – above all else – about recognising that you and you alone are enough”
I jumped into this after a very disappointing read, and did not regret it.
I had heard just about every bloody person on the internet talk about it, and finally got round to downloading it on the kindle to see what all the fuss is about.
Now to be completely transparent I’m only 32% through it according to my kindle, but my god has this woman had the craziest teenage/twenty something years. I cannot get enough of reading about all her crazy adventures, heart breaks, and incredible woman friendships, and can’t wait to snuggle into bed tonight and read some before I go to sleep. Will review on my instagram stories as soon as I’m done.
Readers of all ages and walks of life have drawn inspiration from Elizabeth Gilbert’s books for years. Now, this beloved author shares her wisdom and unique understanding of creativity, shattering the perceptions of mystery and suffering that surround the process – and showing us all just how easy it can be.
By sharing stories from her own life, as well as those from her friends and the people that have inspired her, Elizabeth Gilbert challenges us to embrace our curiosity, tackle what we most love and face down what we most fear.
Whether you long to write a book, create art, cope with challenges at work, embark on a long-held dream, or simply to make your everyday life more vivid and rewarding, Big Magic will take you on a journey of exploration filled with wonder and unexpected joys.
I haven’t started this one yet, but boy am I looking forward to it. I’ve been wanting to become more creative and stop being scared of posting, and start using my voice to make this teeny tiny little piece of the internet a place where I can be creative and this book looks like just the ticket to keep me flexing my creative muscles to come up with content that is going to inspire you and even make you feel less alone.
Lucy Revill from The Residents has been posting bits and bobs of this book on her instagram stories and I was instantly drawn to it!
If you have followed me for any length of time, you’ve probably come to realise that I love podcasts.. (I even wrote a whole blog post about it which you can read here)
I commute for a good half hour, 5 days a week, in the morning and at night so I have plenty of time sitting around in my car waiting for traffic to start a-flowing to educate myself, inspire myself, work on myself, or hear about the latest beauty trend on my ever-growing list of podcasts I listen to daily.
Some of my faves, which you’ve probably seen me mention before are:
This one is for all those perfectionists out there that avoid doing the things they want to, and get in their own way of achieving their huge dreams because they “dont know enough” or “aren’t ready”
Sam is hugely relatable, knowledgable and delivers information in the way you would chatting with your favourite gal pals over coffee! Love listening to her on my morning commute

5 Signs You’re Scared of Success – Episode 5
I started listening to this after seeing Maddy from The Twenties Club recommend it, it is easy bite sized listening of current events and news stories, but I have only recently started to enjoy this after subscribing but never actually listening to an episode because I thought it would be boring. The hosts deliver the information in an easy to understand way and I love educating myself through current events and gathering thoughts and opinions to have a wide variety of thoughts around the topic.

This is a podcast recommended to me during The Perfectionism Project by Sam Laura Brown. Brooke Castillo hosts it, and talks about practical tips to manage your thoughts emotions and actions and get the most out of your life and your dreams. Brooke is very informative and gives practical ways of actually doing the things she recommends.

Freedom Wellness Podcast
I am such a nerd when it comes to the human body, I love learning about the skin, the menstrual cycle, the gut and the brain and how it all affects us and also how it all works together, so when I found The Freedom Wellness Podcast I fell in love with learning about all this even more. Dr Jess Naughton (Chiropractor) and Shelley McKenzie (Nutritionist) talk all about woman’s health and body issues with knowledge and easy to digest information. I always learn something every time I listen to it, as woman we need to learn so much more about our bodies and how to look after them, and this is a really easy way to do that!
